Canoe Garden
Camp Yavneh, NH, 2021

This was co-created by 10th graders who Created by campers in Outdoor Sculpture, Nature, and Family Camp Facilitated by Shirah Rubin, Sarah Rovin, and Nechi Sapir.

This summer we explored the concept of Etz chaim and Shemita. A canoe was repurposed from the agam and became an evolving collaborative art project. One group of campers creatively spray painted it, another group of campers planted a garden in it, and campers from Family camp started mosaicing the canoe. On the last day of Family Camp families took home the herbs. I appreciated the varied contributions to the evolving Garden Canoe and look forward to how campers and staff in the summer of 2022 continue growing their creativity and connections between art and nature.
